Oversize flags for trucks and trailers. Red 18″ x 18″ mesh warning flags for marking the extremities of wide, long and projecting loads, in four mounting styles: wire loop, grommets, bungee cord and wooden dowel. Each flag comes individually shrink-wrapped.
Oversize Load Flag Rules (49 CFR 393.87)
Federal rules require warning flags on any commercial motor vehicle whose load extends more than 4 inches beyond the sides or more than 4 feet beyond the rear. Each flag must be at least 18 inches square and red or fluorescent orange. A load projecting from the rear needs one flag if the projection is 2 feet wide or less and two flags if it is wider. Our red 18″ x 18″ flags meet the size and color rule. Oversize permits and state rules can add requirements, such as flags at every corner of a wide load or lights at night, so check your permit.

How Many Oversize Flags Do You Need?
Count the points that need marking. A rear projection needs one flag when it is 2 feet wide or less and two when it is wider. Wide loads are commonly flagged at each corner of the widest point, which is why most drivers carry at least four. Keep spares in your side box, because flags fray and fade with use.
